Dr. Chiu studied at the University of California Berkeley where he earned his degree in Microbiology and Immunology. He continued attending medical school at the Western University of Health Sciences in Southern California. Gabriel completed an internship at the Bi-County Community Hospital in the Henry Ford Health System. His general surgery residency commenced in Detroit, Michigan in the St. John's Health System. However, in the midst of training he decided to work in Cleveland, Ohio and transferred to the Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital. He became Chief Resident in General Surgery during his time in Ohio.

The couple enjoys helping out organizations and Christine serves on multiple boards within LA. As devout Christians, the Chius attend the Bel Air Presbyterian Church. They enjoy spending their free time with their delightful dog Kokonut, an American Eskimo dog.
